The iOS version of Pic-a-POD was uploaded to the App Store for approval on December 6th. Much to my surprise, it moved to “In Review” on December 7th – less than a day later. I was expecting a few days like with the Mac version.
But then I heard nothing back until on December 10th, I got an email from Apple apologising for the delay but informing me that the review process will require additional time. I don’t know if this related to Pic-a-POD specifically or if they are just very busy right now.
It may be that an app with in-app purchasing gets a more rigorous examination, or it may be that with an app that changes on a daily basis, they want to monitor it over some days. We shall see.
On a related note, I would like to recommend the iTunes Connect Mobile app to any developers who use the Apple App Stores. All uploads and data changes have to be done using the iTunes Connect web site, but the mobile app gives sales data. It also provides notifications of any changes to app status. I think this app is only available through the iTunes Connect web site, so you have to be a registered developer to install it.
